No commercial exploitation: Reduce compulsive features designed to prolong user engagement or cultivate dependency on games, apps or platforms, so children’s immersive play is intrinsically motivated and freely chosen.Enable Open-Ended Play: Provide and enhance features that offer easy-to use pathways, flexibility and variety as these support children’s agency and encourage their imaginative, stimulating and open-ended play.Enhance Imagination: Prioritise creative resources and imaginative, open ended play over pre-determined pathways built on popularity metrics or driven by advertising or other commercial pressures.Be Welcoming: Prioritise digital features that are inclusive, sociable and welcoming to all, reducing hateful communication and forms of exclusion and reflecting multiple identities. To claim the label ‘Playful by Design’, digital products and services should adopt seven principles:

The team from 5 Rights Foundation and Digital Futures LSE set out ambitious expectations for children’s free play in all contexts.

I can't do any of that on a console PC gaming is about performance, sure, but it's also about flexibility and customization that just isn't available on consoles. The Digital Futures Commission's A Vision of Free Play in a Digital World report that outlines the key qualities of "free play" for what "good" looks like in a digital world. I can also make use of my Xone adapter's gyro to translate to mouse look with a modifier key to engage on the left trigger, effectively adding gyro aiming to games that don't natively have that feature. On the other hand, if I play this game on PC, right up front i can use Steam Input or ReWASD to independently map all of the buttons, including mapping keyboard keys (which I can hopefully remap in-game as well).

And even then, if and when PS5 games start releasing on PC none of my PS4 adapters will work because Sony arbitrarily limits the use of DualShock4 controllers on PS5 games.

On a PS4/5 the best I can do to accomplish that is to use a series of hardware adapters (like a Brook Xone) to convert my Xbox controller to a PS4 controller, but even then I need to deal with mismatched button prompts and am limited to only reassigning the standard buttons to my paddles. But I also prefer to play 3rd person games with my Xbox Elite controller and might want to remap different game actions to my four paddles independent of the face buttons. PC gaming is about more than just raw performance. But having to buy a console, a big TV, and playing exclusively with an input method I (quite subjectively) dislike due to the fact that i've been remapping every game I play around the arrow keys and a 5 button-mouse, no matter how outlandish and impractical it may seem to an outside observer, -well, a few games just don't seem worth the effort when there are literally dozens of interesting games coming every week that clamour for my limited time and attention and don't require me to change my gaming habits in the process. If I could buy a PS4, hook it up to my 27 inch PC screen and play these games with mouse and keyboard sitting in my chair the way I enjoy playing games, sure I'd do that. I loved the Arkham games, so I'd be curious about Spiderman Gravity Rush is the other Sony series that feels interesting and original Sure, after playing Sekiro and getting into soulslikes byway of Darksiders III (long story), I'd be interested in playing Bloodborne.

I don't like bleak post-apoc, so neither DaysGone not TLOU are high on my "this might be interesting" list I don't like starting series half-way through, so I was ambivalent about God of War and Uncharted

That being said, neither before, nor after playing them did I feel a spiritual revelation that told me I must go and play Every Sony Game Ever. Discovering that both were coming to PC was pretty amazing news. HZD was unquestionably the most interesting Sony IP to be released this generation- the second being "Death Stranding" - imho, obviously. Click to shrink.Rofl, do you think people that play games on PC live under some mountain and haven't seen a Sony E3 show this gen?
